October 2, 2013 Meeting Minutes

 

TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE  - General Meeting - October 2, 2013

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Richard Held, Brian Nerdahl, Jeff Hunter and Steve Perry.   

Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 7 others were also present.

AGENDA:  Motion by Held, second by Perry to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

MINUTES: Motion by Bauers, second by Perry to approve the minutes of the September 18, 2013 meeting as read. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE:  1) Budget request from the Lakeland Retirement Foundation for $17,664.00 for 2014 Budget.  2) Joint Towns and Lakeland Airport Budget Meeting on Oct. 29th in Minocqua @ 6:00PM.

OLSON MEMORIAL LIBRARY PRESENTATION: Bernie Hupperts and Phil Jenson came and gave a presentation on the renovations and 6600 sq. ft. addition the library has planned for the coming year. They were not asking for financial help. They have received donations and fund raising contributions and felt confident they will raise what they need for the job.

OPERATORS LICENSES:  There were three applications for Operator’s Licenses. Everything checked out. Motion by Nerdahl, second by Held to approve the Operator’s Licenses as presented. Unanimously approved.

TRID PROJECT – OLD HWY 51N: Bollmann would like to see the job close out in the next 2-weeks but first we need to receive the warranty and the rock around the sign needs to be replaced with fieldstone. We would then make our final payment to Pitlik and send everything to the State. Bauers would like to meet this Friday with George Lurvey at the site.

BUILDING INSPECTOR RETIREMENT: Leon Butler our Building Inspector has sent his letter of retirement to the board. He would like to be done by October 30th but if someone from Arbor Vitae would apply, he will stay on to help the person get settled. Motion by Bauers, second by Hunter to advertise the position for someone certified or willing to be certified for the contracted position of building inspector. Unanimously approved.

BUDGET WORKSHOP: The Board started working on the 2014 Budget. The Treasurer and Road Crew were in attendance.

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Bauers, second by Perry to adjourn the meeting at 8:40PM. The next general meeting is October 16th, 2013.
