5-2-2018 meeting minutes

TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE - General Meeting - May 2, 2018

 

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the general meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Ashley Roach, Brian Nerdahl, Ryan Johnson and Jeff Hunter, Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 31 others were also present.

AGENDA: Motion by Roach, second by Hunter to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.

 

MINUTES:  Motion by Johnson, second by Roach to approve the minutes of the April 17, 2018 meeting after amending. Motion carried.

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE:  1)DNR letter concerning late ice out. 2)Witches Lake Rd is in bad shape. Please look at it on your road tour.

 

DR.KATE MUSEUM:  Mike Doud, President, Dr. Kate Museum was present along with most of the other board members to formally invite Arbor Vitae to become an active participant in the museum. They will change the name to include Arbor Vitae and move to a 9 member board if we accept. At the present time they have a 5 member board and 2 of the 5 are from Arbor Vitae. Bauers asked if we would then pay the same as Woodruff pays to support the museum? Bauers said the board will take this up at a later date. 

 

ATV / UTV LOCAL ACCESS DISCUSSION: The ATV Club President Dewey Sternberg was present and requested that we went back to the original 9 roads proposed at the February 15th meeting for local access only and just open those as routes. The 2nd trail that had been approved, now might need an engineering study done that could cost $45,000.00. MSA will come out and take a look but for now that trail is on hold.   Motion by Johnson, second by Roach to open as routes the roads on the original February list and amend the Ordinance. Unanimously approved.

 

TREE REMOVAL ON LEMMA CREEK RD.: Aspulund can’t find the owner of property on Lemma Cr. Rd. they contacted both Vilas County and us and want permission to cut some trees on that property.  Motion by Bauers, second by Nerdahl not to grant permission to Aspulund to cut any trees on someone else’s land. Unanimously approved. 

 

APPOINT PLAN COMMISSION MEMBER:  Dr. William Raduege’s term is up and he is willing to serve another term. Motion by Bauers, second by Johnson to reappoint Dr. Raduege to another 2 year term. Unanimously approved.    

 

ROAD TOUR DATE:  Mike Worthing and the Town Board will meet on Friday, May 11-18 at 12:00 to examine the conditions of our roads.   

 

ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Johnson, second by Nerdahl to adjourn the meeting at 7:52PM. Motion carried. The next general meeting is May 16, 2018.
