February 15, 2017 meeting minutes


CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the general meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.


ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Brian Nerdahl and Ryan Johnson. Jeff Hunter and Steve Perry were absent. Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 7 others were also present.  


AGENDA: Motion by Johnson, second by Nerdahl to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.


MINUTES:  Motion by Nerdahl second by Bauers to approve the minutes of the February 1st, 2017 meeting after amending that Dave Alleman is the Vilas County Clerk not the Treasurer. Motion carried.


TREASURER’S REPORT:  No Treasurer’s report until the next meeting.


PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE: 1) Mobilitie LLC emailed us with a DOT contact and Bauers talked with them and they are in favor of the fiber optic data utility and approve of it in the right-of-way. Nerdahl also gave the information we were given to a WTA representative at the recent district meeting.


APPROVE RR GRADE AS ATV-UTV TRAIL:  The ATV-UTV Club asked the Board to officially accept the RR Grade as an ATV-UTV trail. It’s all on state right of way. It will end at Mattke Rd. Deanna and Jay Kidd have property on Hwy 47 that they are going to let people use as a parking area to get on the trail. Motion by Nerdahl, second by Bauers to approve the use of the RR grade as a ATV-UTV trail ending at Mattke Rd. Unanimously approved.


OPERATOR’S LICENSES:  There was 1application and everything checked out. Motion by Bauers, second by Johnson to approve the Operator’s License as presented. Unanimously approved.


AMBULANCE DISCUSSION: An excellent fact filled presentation was done by Stan Lewis, Rescue Chief and Mike VanMeter, Fire Chief.  They would like to see Arbor Vitae start their own EMT staffed ambulance service. We were informed last year that we would be seeing a $30,000.00 jump in 2018 in expenses from Oneida County Ambulance Service. Bauers stated that he would like to see this presented at the Annual Meeting to see how our residents feel.  


BUILDING REPORT:  No building permits issued in January.  Januarys total $000.00. Years total $000.00. 

APPROVE CHECKS & VOUCHERS:  Checks 39177 to 39274 were approved for February in the amount of $1,562,764.60.

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 8:00PM. The next general meeting is March 1st,2017.
