September 7, 2016 board meeting minutes

TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE  - General Meeting - September 7, 2016

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Jeff Hunter, Brian Nerdahl, Ryan Johnson and Steve Perry.   Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 2 other people were also present.

AGENDA:  Motion by Perry, second by Johnson to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

MINUTES: Motion by Nerdahl, second by Hunter to approve the minutes of the August 17th, 2016 meeting as read. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE:  1) The Airport and Joint Towns meeting will be on October 6th at 6:00PM at LDF. 2) WTA letter on Turnout for Transportation program on 9-29-2016. 3) Budget meeting on 6-28-2016 at 6:30PM. 4) We received a copy of the Vilas County Subdivision Control Ordinance. 5) Sonja Margitan requested another letter for Kuehn/Skok easement next to Our Rd. off Barden saying we had never accepted that as a town road and never received gas tax on it. 6) Tony Bogdanovich asked what can be done on his Witches Lake property. We will put it on our October 5th agenda. 7) On 8-23-16 @ 12:00 Bauers and Perry held a meeting with Vilas County Supervisors and County Clerk to talk about library options.

ATV CROSSING: The WIS DOT is requesting us to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement outlining the towns responsibilities for the ATV route and trail connection on HWY. 70 from Rudolph Rd. to the towns parking lot. The trail will not be open this year and will cross Hwy 70 in 3 places. Motion by Bauers, second by Perry to enter into the Memorandum of Agreement with the DOT and then our town will pass this on to the ATV Club. Unanimously approved.

LIBRARY DECISION: Once we became libraried we don’t have to pay anything. We are the only town in Vilas County that has ever been asked to pay. After months of research and discussion a motion by Bauers was seconded by Johnson to contribute $20,000.00 to the Minocqua Library and send a letter explaining the contribution because we aren’t signing a contract. Unanimously approved.

VILAS COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPT. ROAD FUNDING: Due to the county not having a meeting we lost our TRIP funding. The County wrote a resolution backfilling those funds with county funds and then the county will make application with the WI DOT to approve the lost funds for a county project. All was approved and now each of the seven towns will receive $22,637.90 towards their 2016 road construction projects. This is great news and we will use South Farming Rd. project for our reimbursement.

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Nerdahl, second by Perry to adjourn the meeting at 7:49PM. The next general meeting is September 21st, 2016 at 7:00PM.
