February 17, 2016 board meeting minutes

 

 TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE  - General Meeting -    February 17, 2016

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the general meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

 

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Jeff Hunter, Brian Nerdahl, Richard Held and Steve Perry. Jessica L. from the Lakeland Times and 2 others were also present.  

 

AGENDA: Motion by Held, second by Perry to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.

 

MINUTES:  Motion by Hunter, second by Perry to approve the minutes of the January 20th, 2016 meeting as read. Motion carried.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  The January report was reviewed by the board. Motion by Nerdahl, second by Bauers to approve the report as presented. Motion carried.

         

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE: 1) AVFD asked us to pass a Fire Code Inspection Ordinance and handed out a copy. It will be on the next agenda. 2) Willow Flowage information from the DNR. 3) Email from the WTA about the Just Fix It (road) Campaign.  4) Referendum questions that will be on the ballot in April. 5) Jed Peters from the DOT is considering the lot next to Henry’s Vaccum for storm water runoff. 6) Perry would like the board to consider doing a comprehensive plan for roads by having a professional evaluation. 7)The board should review the packet from General Code at the next meeting. 8) We will have a special meeting on Feb. 26th at 12:00 to approve a picnic license.   

 

DEER FEEDING & BAITING BAN:  The Town of Minocqua sent a letter along with a petition to our elected officials against the baiting ban and Bauers would like to see us write a letter also. Motion by Held, second by Hunter to send a letter against the baiting ban to Governor Walker, Swearingen, Tiffany and DNR Stepp. Unanimously approved.

 

OPERATOR’S LICENSES:  There were 3 applications and everything checked out. Motion by Nerdahl, second by Perry to approve the Operator’s Licenses as presented. Unanimously approved.

 

PUBLIC NUISANCE ORDINANCE DISCUSSION: The board would like to reintroduce Resolution #1-97, Appearance Code. The complaint form would be added. Sections from all 4 model ordinances were added or deleted and would be further discussed when finished.

 

BUILDING REPORT:  1-garage $30,000.00,  1-deck $40,000.00.  Januarys total $70,000.00. Years total $70,000.00. 

 

APPROVE CHECKS & VOUCHERS:  Checks 38100 to 38207 were approved for February in the amount of $1,883,619.21.

 

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 8:00PM. The next general meeting is March 2nd, 2016.
