September 16, 2015 meeting minutes

 

 TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE  - General Meeting - September 16, 2015

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the general meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Jeff Hunter, Steve Perry, Brian Nerdahl and Richard Held.   1 other person was also present.

AGENDA: Motion by Held, second by Perry to approve the agenda.  Motion carried.

 

MINUTES:  Motion by Nerdahl, second by Hunter to approve the minutes of the September 16th, 2015 meeting. Motion carried with Bauers abstaining.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:  The August report was reviewed by the board.  Motion by Hunter, second by Perry to approve the report as presented. Motion carried.

         

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE: 1) Mike Meyers letter from the DOT clarifying his concerns with regards to his access points on Hwy 51. 2) DOT response to the board in regards to the 3 points asked concerning the speed limit, existing driveways or access points not being removed and replacement parking for businesses.  3) Joint Airport meeting with the Towns and Airport Commission. 4) Mark Barden from Town & Country Engineering Inc. introduced himself and made the board aware of his services. 5) Red Pine Cr. is complete.  6) Perry attended  the County chapter of the Wisconsin Towns Assoc. meeting in the Cloverland Town hall on 8/26 and got information on having our roads professionally assessed.

 

FIREARMS POLICY: Perry brought to the boards attention that the no weapons signs we have up must be the decision of the board or by resolution and they were put up without either. They were put up for peace of mind by the Clerk. Open carry is allowed in the State of WI and board members felt it was their right and felt the signs should be removed. Other forms of defense were suggested. Motion by Bauers, second by Nerdahl to leave the no weapons signs up on our municipal buildings failed with Hunter, Held and Perry voting no.  

 

PICNIC LICENSE: There was 1 application from the USAFPA to sell beer and wine at the Northwoods Harley Davidson Fall Ride. They are a bona fide club and everything checked out. Motion by Nerdahl, second by Bauers to approve the license as presented. Unanimously approved.

 

BUILDING REPORT:  2-stick house $470,000.00,   1-demo $4,000.00, 2-garages $44,000.00, 1-additions $26,000.00, 1-county survey $75.00. August’s total $544,075.00. Years total $2,409,995.00. 

APPROVE CHECKS & VOUCHERS:  Checks 37550 to 37624 were approved for September in the amount of $102,321.22.

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 7:30PM. The next general meeting is October 7th, 2015.
