TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE  - General Meeting - July 2, 2014

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Richard Held, Jeff Hunter, Brian Nerdahl and Steve Perry.  Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 3 others were also present.

AGENDA:  Motion by Held, second by Hunter to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

MINUTES: Motion by Nerdahl, second by Perry to approve the minutes of the June 18th, 2014 meeting as read. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE:  1) We got the deeds for the outlot to the side of our building and Big and Little Arbor Vitae Drives. Bob Winat made sure the deeds didn’t exclude structures. They usually write them to say no structures and that would include septic fields. We appreciate Bob Winats efforts.

OPEN TRUCK BID FOR SALE OF OLD TRUCK: There was only one bid for the old truck from Mid States, the company that sold us the truck in 2003. They offered $42,000.00 and want the truck by December 1st. They will reduce the offer by $1000.00 per month if they don’t have the truck by 12-1-14. Motion by Bauers, second by Held to table this for further consideration. Unanimously approved.

OPEN TRUCK BIDS FOR NEW TRUCK: There were 3 bids. Truck County bid $126,693.00 for a Freightliner. Wisconsin Kenworth bid $145,653.00 for a Kenworth and Mid States bid $117,300.00 for an International. There were 2 bids for the hydraulics. Olson Trailer from Green Bay bid $69,796.00 and Truck Equipment bid $83,890.00. Bauers and Welch will go through all the bids on Thursday morning and then call a meeting with their findings.

OPEN BIDS FOR ROAD WORK: Pitlik and Wick was the only bidder. The board felt the roads in the most need for resurfacing were Rux Rd. from Colston to the end which includes the cul-de-sac and Old Hwy 51S from Hwy. 70 to before Madson. Motion by Bauers, second by Hunter to award the resurfacing work to Pitlik. Unanimously approved.

OPERATOR’S LICENSES: There were 4 operator applications submitted. All of them checked out and a motion was made by Bauers and seconded by Perry to approve licenses for the 4 as presented. Unanimously approved.

LETTER REQUEST FOR ATV TRAIL SUPPORT: Rocky Caffarella requested a letter of support to the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Council for use of the abandoned railroad grade between Sterns Lake Rd and Iron County for ATV/UTV use. Motion by Held, second by Perry to send the letter to the Tribal Council. Unanimously approved.
