TOWN OF ARBOR VITAE  - General Meeting - May 7, 2014

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Bauers called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. It had been properly posted and the media notified.

ROLL CALL: Present Frank Bauers, Richard Held, Jeff Hunter, Brian Nerdahl and Steve Perry.  Brian Jopek from the Lakeland Times and 3 others were also present.

AGENDA:  Motion by Held, second by Perry to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

MINUTES: Motion by Perry, second by Hunter to approve the minutes of the April 15th, 2014 meeting as read. Motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENTS / CORRESPONDENCE:  1)A letter against ATV’s on the snowmobile trail on Hwy 47. 2)Thank you from Lakeland Retirement. 3)Mike Cady would like to assist Les Duryea who commented about lack of natural gas on Hwy 51N at the annual meeting.

AMENDMENT #4 TO ORDINANCE 2-92 ADOPTION OF STATE UNIFORM DWELLING CODE:  It was brought to the town boards attention that due to the fact we had not updated our current ordinance a resident who took out a permit in 1978 and never finished the work could now do an addition without permits. Rick Clem, AV Building Inspector supplied us with several other town’s model ordinances and said until we update ours there is nothing that can be done about this. Motion by Bauers, second by Nerdahl to approve Amendment #4 to 2-92 which replaces the original and amendments 1 & 2 to the Adoption of the Uniform Dwelling Code. Motion passed with Held voting no.

ROAD INSPECTION DATE: The Board decided to take their annual road inspection on May 16th @ 12:00PM. They will inspect the condition of the roads and what work will be bid this year.

APPROVE SALE OF TOWNS 8-ARCE PARCEL: The electors again approved the sale of the town’s 8-acre parcel and now the board needed to decide. Perry would like to see us try to trade land at the gravel pit with the state. We could save the town thousands of dollars if that were possible. Bauers recalls that the state won’t trade land for land inside the state forest. Hunter would not like us to do anything with it, just hang onto it. Bauers made a motion to make a trade with the state and if they won’t trade then we’ll sell it. The motion was seconded by Perry and passed 3-2 with Hunter and Held voting no.

ADJOURNMENT:  Motion by Perry, second by Bauers to adjourn the meeting at 7:43PM. The next general meeting is May 21st, 2014 at 7:00PM.
