This family is a fishing family, they understand the bite and they are enjoying a fantastic fresh fish dinner as this post is being typed. More great people supporting our local communities.

Crappie fishing today and as most fishermen know, there biting. We caught as many on plastics as we did minnows. The strike was hard hitting. Many other people are on the bite.

They have spawned on certain locations and are staging to spawn at other locations. Slip bobbers are good and jigs also are good.

My clients are enjoying the happiness of the north during this time of year, as many, many other fishermen are also doing. Everyone involved is supporting our communities and there business’s.

As always, stay positive, think clearly, do not listen to negative talk and do not listen to negative people.

"NO FISH NO PAY GUARANTEED"

Started out sunny and then turned cloudy in the afternoon and a little cooler as the sun went away. Our pics were taken before it cooled off. A a south wind is continuing. Rain is in the forecast and is coming this week.

These guys enjoyed the beauty of the T.F.F. and caught Walleye from 8 AM to 4 PM. It did not mater the color of our jig, today. Put it down and Bang! We did get some smaller Walleye on bobbers but, "bobbers are good" and do "produce very well", in certain areas, for us. A simple jig and minnow is what we used today (along with some trolling) and we did well.

The Walleye are moving into different locations and some spots are good today and not the next. We also find that some areas that were not good yesterday but, are good today. One thing that is very important “to us” is, slow is very good for the presentation.

Trolling was also used and did produce 3 Walleye and yes, they were the best sized fish. Color does matter for trolling, “for us”. This is an under utilized technique on the T.F.F. and yes, a few people troll but, very few. This works and should be experimented with for a good change of pace if nothing else.

My clients are enjoying the happiness of the north during this time of year, as many, many other fishermen are also doing. Everyone involved is supporting our communities and there business’s.

Big Dan and His father Randy were again today, all over the bite. These guys are awesome. There are not only a tight family group, hard working, caring and kind people but, they are good fishermen who enjoy a quality fishing trip.

What ever water temp we lost last night was not only brought back up today but, was increased over yesterday with the beautiful sunny day we still are enjoying. Today we did establish a very good Crappie bite (as many others have been doing) and we also did very well with multiple Walleye. All fish are on minnows "for us". We did produce all day, not just in the morning and we started at 8 AM. All fish came from 6 to 10 feet of water today.

Color of the jig "today" made absolutely "no difference", put it down and Bang! We could still be there and still producing as this post is being typed.

The warm front that is moving in starting on Tuesday will not only increase the water temps but, should bring some much needed rain for our area. Be Careful out there, everything is "Extremely Dry". For now, we are to be cloudy for tomorrow, as forecast.

My clients are enjoying the happiness of the north during this time of year, as many, many other fishermen are also doing. Everyone involved is supporting our communities and there business’s.

Big Dan 6 – 6 @ 330 (holding the 28 incher) and father Randy enjoyed there day producing several Walleye and a Bonus Trophy (released.) No river fish.

These 2 guys are a knock down drag out and a non bashful family. They let you know how they feel in a flash, no diplomacy here. Hold on and lets go. Thanks guys, it is my honor. After several years of working together, it is awesome to be with this family again and tomorrow. These guys know exactly when the strike happens and when to set the hook.

All fish came on minnows as most people this time of year and yes, some produce on other baits, lures or plastics. Most of the Walleye we caught today (on the lake we were fishing) happened when the sun was out and the temps were beautiful during the AM. but, we did catch Walleye after the front rolled in.

The Jumbo Walleye was in 23 ft flat on the bottom in a pocket of deeper water. This happened about 2 hours after the wind shifted to the north and the wind speed picked up to a steady 20 or more today and the temps dropped 25 degrees in 4 hours. Yes, I said 25 degrees colder in 4 hours.

As this post is being typed in, the local lakes of my area are beginning to cool down and fog, water temps will be dropping over night, due to the extreme temperature drop. 35 is forecast for to nights low.

Several lakes across the north are producing Walleye. Many reports from several social media web sites are showing this information. Local locations are doing well. My clients are enjoying the happiness of the north during this time of year, as many, many other fishermen are also doing. Everyone involved is supporting our communities and there business’s.

The pattern is staying the same for now , for us. All fish were caught from about, 12 ft. 2 of the Walleye were still milking. Minnows are best, for us.

Almost all of my posts since opening day have been reported on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage Board. Including an opening day 64 pound Sturgeon caught on 6 lb line, took 66 minutes and on video. Awesome reading and seeing the pic.

These 3 guys are an awesome team, lots of fish caught and lots of fun for the day. All fish were from Vilas.

All Walleye were caught on minnows and around 12 ft deep. Still close to some spawning areas. All of our fish were hard hitting and aggressive. No river fish, all lake fish, no big ones but lots of action and good eating for the guest.

Heading back to the Flowage tomorrow. Several of my posts have been on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage board.

This family is continuing to support Iron County WI. by staying there, eating out, gasoline, shopping, the Grocery Store and by making reservations for next year.

This father and son did a great job on the big Crappie. There vacation was a great time for fishing. A pic of some of the fish caught is below. The small ones are 10 1/2 in.. All fish were caught on minnows and casting, no bobbers today. The brush was best for us, next to the channel edge. Other people are producing by the stumps in some shallow bays, also the south west end of the Flowage and other locations.

All fish were around 5 to 12 ft deep (where we were fishing.) Water temps are rising rapidly 59 degrees today and again, where we were fishing. With the warm weather forecast for tomorrow and Friday the water temps should continue to rise rapidly, despite some rain forecast. Around 10 AM this morning, 3 others of the group and I were by the Dam and caught several small Walleye. We left and I picked up this father and son of there group and they caught the beautiful Crappie below.

Day 2.

No changes today, the pattern is staying the same as "our " fish came from the same area. I kept 2 for myself as I did yesterday.

This couple again enjoyed there morning producing a good Walleye limit from the T.F.F..

As told yesterday, this husband and wife travel all over Canada, the U.S. and other locations enjoying exotic vacations and this week is no different. We will be fishing the beautiful T.F.F..

Walleye Today from the T.F.F.

“Our fish” again, came from the large East bay of the Flowage. A few other boats were again there producing as well. Again, a small jig and minnow were the best option, “for us”.

Shallow fish again today from 3 to 9 ft were producing on the T.F.F. “where we were fishing”.

This Grandfather and Grandson are an awesome team. They catch Walleye over several states as well as Big Perch and other specie. Good Job IKE!

Yesterday we worked from 7 to 16 ft to produce our Walleye. A jig and minnow produced well. A slow presentation was very important to get the strike. Some of our Walleye were still milking, Same on Trout and a few other lakes. Walleye are being reported as good all over the north in Vilas County WI..

Color of the jig head does make a difference on certain lakes and no difference on other lakes. During the past cold front smaller minnows worked better “for us”. The river Walleye have been producing since opening day.

The warm spell begins tomorrow and will continue thru Thursday, as currently forecast. This will increase the Walleye bite as well as the Crappie, which have been doing well on certain lakes for the past week.

As always, stay positive, think clearly and do not listen to negative talk and do not listen to negative people.

Day 2

Father and son once again enjoying the Great North Woods in Iron County Wisconsin.

Walleye Today from the T.F.F.

This family is a special unit, awesome job guys. Current is continuing to be “our” best producer for Walleye on the T.F.F. and will be for several days to come. Yes, other people are catching Walleye in other locations. Our fish are coming on bobbers, split shot and a hook. A small jig also works well. Color of the jig can make a difference in the number of strikes we receive and there are times when color makes no difference.

All fish are coming from a variety of depths from 4 to 22 ft. No need to go on and on, most people are doing well on the T.F.F..

Walleye Today from the T.F.F.

This father and son team work very well together. They enjoy and cherish each other and family. These 2 guys worked very hard and the results speak for themselves as shown below. Lots of questions and correct answers provided there fish. No Jumbo fish were caught today but, a great package was received in a limit of Walleye. I even caught 2 for dinner tonight.

Current is continuing to be "our” best producer for Walleye on the T.F.F.. Reports of Walleye being caught in other locations on the T.F.F. are reported daily with other people on other fishing web sites. Our fish are currently coming from a wide variety of depths, from 4 to 22 ft on the T.F.F..

The cold front of yesterday and thru tonight has slowed our bite but, we also slowed down our presentation, we missed several strikes today but still caught our limit of Walleye. Smaller everything was the answer, "for us". All fish came on minnows. We downsized on all equipment and hardware. Bobber's also work well.

Certain locations produce a few fish and then we move. Sitting in one spot can and does work but, we like to find and offer our presentation to multiple groups of fish.

Also, "we never approach" and fish close to other boats, I respect that, "they were there first".

As always, stay positive, think clearly and do not listen to negative talk and do not listen to negative people.

1/2 day

More great people enjoying the Great North Woods in Iron County Wisconsin. Another beautiful sunny morning.

This Gal is a great Angler, she not only smiles all the time, polite, laughs a lot but, she is very knowledgeable about our area and above all she loves fishing, Kayaking, Canoeing, and uses a Row Boat. She sees a lot and catches a lot of fish.

She is srtictly a catch and release Angler so, no stringer pics today. Although a couple of quality fish are posted below. Many fish were caught before the cold front.

All fish on minnows and caught from 4 to 22 ft. Current area's are best (for us) although, some spawning shoreline areas are producing as well, besides the current. “Hold on” as the clouds have rolled in and the wind is from the north west and the temps are rapidly dropping. We are forecast for rain starting now and some tomorrow.

The updated forecast is for this Friday to have a high temp of 54 with AM showers, hopefully that will change.

Crappie shallow, in warm water. Yesterday. 5-7-18

Fishing a small tributary lake connected to a larger lake is where these fish came from. In fact they were right on the shoreline in 1 – 1/2 ft to 3 ft of water and the water temp was 62 degrees. Yes, there are several lakes like this right now producing shallow Crappie even though some bigger lakes are still ice covered.

This small 100 acre lake in particular has water running thru both ends of the lake and has a maximum depth of 18 ft. We actually left the small lake and went back into the larger lake to clean a few fish due to the fact the small lake had no wind due to its size and it was just to hot and we were over dressed.

Yesterday was a sunny warm day as the last 2 weeks have been but, that is over. Our fish all came on minnows, light hooks and light line. The clouds have rolled in and the wind is from the north west and the temps are rapidly dropping. We are forecast for rain from now and tomorrow.

Friday’s high temp that is as of now forecast, is to be 54, as now forecast.

More great people enjoying the Great North Woods of Iron County Wisconsin. Besides there limit of Walleye caught in and out of the river channels on minnows, (I kept 2 for dinner, that I caught) we enjoyed a bonus catch of this magnificent Sturgeon. A 1 hour and 6 minute video was taken. Jeff Robel watched the first few minutes and then left in his boat.

We enjoyed a total of 4 tremendous leaps out of the water and had to chase the fish with the trolling motor over and over again. Under the boat, around the boat, down to the bottom, then 4 individual 100 ft runs away from the boat, out of the channel, back into the channel edge we were fishing and finally into the boat.

This was an exhausting experience for Dave as he kept saying to all of us in the boat, this is just like catching Tarpon when you and I go to Key West Florida for the past 11 years except, this time we did it on, "6 lb line and a 1/8th oz jig head". This Sturgeon was eventually landed and a quick photo was taken and released, witnessed by another boat watching, a black and silver Lund.

Absolutely an Awesome job Dave. My Hat goes off to you, thank you for allowing me to be a part of this incredible and valiant effort.

Great clients who enjoy great fishing. Polite, laughing, joking all day long, wanting to learn and having fun. These guys were awesome as they caught and released many fish and kept a few for the frying pan.

All our fish were spawned out. Some were milking but those were the small males. Lots of fish caught and released. The current areas produced the best. A standard jig and minnow was the best and probably will be for daytime fishing for the next few weeks. Several Crappie were also caught. All fish on minnows.
